A must throw if you're auditioning understable midranges. Lots of glide, very consistent disc to dial in. IMO, the easiest and best midrange for holding an anny line. It almost becomes more and more predictable as it beats in, which helps set it apart from other understable mids. No bead makes it a great complement to Buzzz, Aftershock, and C-MD2 or other beadless or micro bead mids. Can easily be used as your main mid, especially for people that predominately throw hyzer, does hyzer-flips well and holds any line well as long as you don't juice it and put too much torque on it. More of a finesse mid compared to a Buzzz SS or Meteor, but definitely not touchy if your form is clean.

One of the best fairway/control drivers made. Unlike the Teebird, the Eagle-x has a bit of turn and healthier fade. The result is a driver that's easy to S-curve, especially as it beats in. The nice thing about the Eagle is it never loses its LSS too much, making it an easy disc to range due to the ever-present fade. As it beats in, it will develop more turn and will do a decent Teebird impression if you hyzer-flip it. Star, Champ and DX Eagles are all pretty consistent, so you don't have to worry about 11x or 12x or CAL tooling or any of that mess. The only thing you have to check for if shopping in person is that it's a X mold and not a L mold. All Stars are basically X, with L's being made in Champ and DX mostly. The L mold will have a very flat lip or rim whereas the X has a curve, almost concave rim.

If the Comet and the Stingray had a torrid love affair which produced an independent minded illegitimate child, it would be the flying squirrel. Looks like a beadless Comet, flies more like a beat Star Stingray. It's a little faster, like a speed 5 mid, and doesn't love low lines like a Comet or Fuse does, that is to say it doesn't have as much glide as you'd think. Hyzer-flip to straight or rip it into a turnover, it holds an anny line pretty well. I found it a little tricky to dial in compared to other understable mids but overall a really fun disc. Mine had a ton of flashing on it.

I finally took this Element out for some field testing/practice today. It's pretty nice. I had given my FLX Buzzz to my girlfriend a couple months ago, but am still familiar with how it flew, and the Element is similar. More specifically this:

The Plastic- It says it's HPP, but is completely different than my other two HPP discs. This is gummy/grippy and very flexible. It feels like a mix between Pro D and FLX, but seems to be more durable than either. It took more than a few spike hyzers into the ground today, and a few tree branch catches, and not a single scratch or gouge in it. Also, all the dirt and grass streaks on it wipe right off without soap or water. One good once-over with my thumb and it looks brand new again.

The Flight- I have to disagree with the Marshall Street Flight chart(again) on this disc. It feels quite similar to the buzzz, but seems a little bit faster; maybe a speed 6. It is also more nose-angle sensitive, and holds any line longer before fading. I'd give the HSS/Turn a rating of -0.5. There is a little turn, and it's pretty easy to hyzer-flip, but not really enough to turn it over without trying real hard. It can be turned over for hard rollers if need be, and works well on the ground, but it's not what most people would call "A flippy POS." It will also hold a solid hyzer line well, even in a moderate head/cross wind.
The glide on this Element is almost of Scandinavian caliber. It just keeps floating down the line. I threw a few really low shots(maybe 1ft off the grass) and it carried well. It's great for some skip-shots too, because of the glide. It likes to skip on low shots, but due to it's light fade, the skips go in the same direction as the flight. I don't really know how to measure glide, but on a 200ft low and flat shot, it will skip a good 20-25 feet further. I'd put the glide as about the same as an Opto Striker that I have(5).
As mentioned, the fade on it is really light. from a 10ft height on a flat line, it only fades 2-3 feet. It's pretty much dead-on accurate. If I was going to take a run at the chains from anywhere>300ft, I'd choose this disc. And when I miss, due to my lack of ability, I'd still be saved by the discs knack for laying down easy and not rolling off into bogey territory.

The Summary- Overall, this is a solid disc. As far as midranges go, I'd choose this over a Buzzz every time. It seems to be a lot more versatile too, and I'd go so far as to say it'd hold it's own against anything between a Hornet and a Stratus. The plastic is top-notch, the flight is intuitively flawless, and the price-point is unmatched. I got 4 discs shipped for $25, but I'd happily pay $15-18 for this disc, and it'd be worth every penny. Ordering direct from Gateway is definitely the way to go; it's cheaper and the service is unmatched

This disc is a very straight flying driver, but not very consistent. It always went about 30 feet father then my Discraft Stalker, but when my stalker when straight down the middle every time, the River would S curve, sometimes landing more to the left, and sometimes fading out a lot at the end.

This disc is great for stable forehand shots, and major head wind. The disc is almost too overstable. I am hoping an ESP version will come out so I may break it in faster then the elite Z.

I have found great use for this disc as a thumbed shot. It makes a wide flip, but will go far. My flick will go 250' with a thumbed shot, but the same shot on a NUKE OS will go a little over 300' for me.

This has become my goto putter, and short range driver. It will hold any line. Try to think of it as a small diameter Buzzz. I have a Cryztal FLX for driving is wooded areas. If I give this disc a lot it still doesn't turn over, but falls flat at the end of the flight. I'ma big fan of "neutral" putters because the disc goes where you aim, and you don't have to "play the fade" at all.

I was given one of these to try out on the course. I was told that it was a great driving putter and that since I drive with my Aviars a lot that I should give it a try. When we got to a pretty open 300' hole I decided to throw it there after throwing my Aviar. I didn't have to put 100% into the Aviar to get it to the basket, and I threw the Ridge just as I did the Aviar. The Ridge came up well short of the basket.

After finishing the course, we went back to that hole so I could throw the Ridge some more to see if I could get a feel for it. It flew really straight, but I couldn't ever get it out to more than about 285'. I watched the guy that gave it to me throw it, and it was going straight for him as well. I then gave him my Aviar to throw, and he threw it the same distance as he threw the Ridge, but he turned it over consistently.

I eventually came to the conclusion that this disc is a very neutral disc, but it has to be muscled for distance. It "flies" more like a projectile than a disc. A smooth, clean, snap dominated throw will not give this disc much distance.

That may make it good for putting, but I was told it was good for driving with and it is far from that.

I eventually came to the conclusion that this disc is a very neutral disc, but it has to be muscled for distance. It “flies” more like a projectile than a disc. A smooth, clean, snap dominated throw will not give this disc much distance.

That may make it good for putting, but I was told it was good for driving with and it is far from that.

The JK Aviar is a softer version of the KC Aviar. When new, the JK Aviar is just like the KC, it is slightly overstable, and and will fight a pretty stiff headwind. It won’t flip even on your most powerful drives, but it will still hold an anhyzer for most of the flight. It gets straighter as it beats in to the point that it will hold any line you put it on for the entire flight.

For approaches, a seasoned JK Aviar perfect for approaches at any distance. It has enough stability at the lower speeds that makes it really predictable. It won’t roll on shallow anhyzers, and it won’t flip from a hyzer. Flat throws will hold their line and maybe fade a bit at the end of the flight.

The plastic is nice and soft, and has really good grip as long as it doesn't have dry dirt all over it. I always have a towel with me, so wiping the dirt off isn't a problem.

The biggest difference that I see between the KC and JK Aviar in terms of the flights is that the JK seems to beat in quicker than the KC. On drives, the JK Aviar gets really touchy once it gets really beat in. It is still pretty durable because it takes a while for the disc to get to that position.

This is a great putter for driving or approaching. When new, it is slightly overstable and will fight a pretty stiff headwind. It won't flip even on your most powerful drives, but it will still hold an anhyzer for most of the flight. When it beats in a bit, the disc will become straighter by losing the fade on longer throws and will hold whatever line you put it on the entire flight.

I think a seasoned KC Aviar is perfect for approaches at any distance. It has enough stability at the lower speeds that makes it really predictable. It won't roll on shallow anhyzers, and it won't flip from a hyzer. Flat throws will hold their line and maybe fade a bit at the end of the flight.

The plastic is really stiff. Nicks along the edge of the disc can make it feel really rough on your hands if you don't smooth them out. I personally don't have a problem with this, but I know some people have mentioned they don't like it.

Overall, the KC Aviar is a fantastic disc. I will probably always keep one in my bag.
