From the Manufacturer...

The Gazelle is great overall disc for players of all skill levels because of its versatility and control. It is a dependable driver that has long straight flight with a predictable fade at the end. The Gazelle works well in headwind conditions for both long and medium range shots. It has a narrow rim that is easy for smaller hands to grip.

  1. The Gazelle was first run in early 1994 and was an understable disc when it first came out. Since then it has been retooled twice, once in 1998 when a bead was added and again in 1999 the bead was almost taken completely off. It is now a stable work horse fairway driver. Gazelle’s are great for beginners because of their slower speed and are very easy to throw. It is also a staple in the great Ken Klimo’s bag. It is a great disc for tight tunnel shots in the woods and will hold almost any line it is put on. The Gazelle has been run in a wide variety of plastics over the years including, DX, Champion, Pro, Star, KC Pro, CE, SE, and glow. All of these have a slightly different flight making the Gazelle even more versatile.

Dx Gazelle’s – Beat in the fastest and become understable. They are great for Hyzerflips and Anhyzers. I think that most of the new DX plastic is crap and only carry the old circle stamp Dx Gazelles. The older DX plastic seems to hold up better. The Dx Gazelle has the most glide out of all the plastics it is made in.

Champion/Champ Glow Gazelle – Slightly overstable out of the box but will break in to a super straight driver after playing with it for a few months. Great for Hyzers and Straight shots with some late fade.

Star Gazelle – Overstable out of the box. Will break in a bit faster than Champ but holds its overstability longer IMO.

KC Pro Gazelle – My favorite is the 9x CE blend Gazelle. The thing is just sweet and holds any line you put it on. Holds up for a very long time and is very predictable. I will always have one in my bag even though they can get a bit expensive.

I have not had a chance to throw the other plastics that the Gazelle comes in but hope to get my hands on a CE one in the future. Great disc for any player looking for more controlled drives; it doesn’t take a big arm to throw and is very capable of lines out to 350′ with pion point accuracy. Time tested as one of the greatest disc’s in the game. Get a Gazelle and thank me later.

  2. The gazelle is one of the most versatile discs ever created. This was the first disc I bought in 1999 and when I started playing again in 2009 it was the disc I returned to using immediately.

It is stable enough to rip at full power and the most you will get is a slight turnover ‘s’ flight. It will hold a hyzer or anhyzer as you expect and can recover from a slight anny for a mild flex shot.

The current dx is a little too weak for me to recommend as a daily driver…you will go through them too quick. Pick up a glo-champ CFR and you will have a companion for life.

Accuracy is one of the main draws for this disc…point and shoot, it really is that simple. If you want some heavy fade just throttle back a bit.

Others might tell you that a disc this slow is not necessary anymore, you can just smile, make your shot and when you hit that 6′ gap 240′ out you can laugh openly in their shamed faces.

Well-loved. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 5 Thumb down 0
