From the Manufacturer...

The Stingray is a large diameter disc that has a very predictable turn and excellent glide. It has a shallow rim that makes it easy to grip for smaller hands and allows for a smooth consistent release. These characteristics make it a good choice for beginners. The Stingray is also an excellent disc for throwing controllable mid to long range roller shots.

  1. Low profile understable midrange with great glide and long history of uses. Older molds can be collectible. The Stingray is an under-appreciated mid IMO up there with the Buzzz and Fuse which everyone raves about (us included). It’s a straight flyer when new and in star plastic with DX being worn it becomes a great turnover/roller disc. Finesse stable-understable driver/roller. Hyzer to straight to right turn, it is very predictable. Great for new players. Good quick turning scoobie or sidearm roller. Very versatile disc.

  2. Another classic that has stood the test of time. The Stingray is good for players of all power and skill levels and can be made to fly dead straight with the slightest of fade, or with as much or little turn as you want to put into it at several distances. The large diameter rim is a throwback compared to most discs in the bag, but it’s not that important, and it’s an advantage if you use this disc as a roller. With more power and a hyzer flip the Stingray will glide far and straight – 250′ throws don’t take much effort. Flat throws with power will see this disc fly straight with an almost right-angle dog leg turn that keeps its glide after the turn. Very impressive. It can hold a flight more like a Roadrunner as well, but getting that dog leg turn from a Stingray is a neat thing. With anhyzer, the Stingray opens up just about any turn line you want although for distances less than 170′ you may want to pick a shorter mid disc/putter instead. The DX plastic and the nature of this disc’s flight means that it’s not going to fly the same for long, so you might consider getting it in Star plastic – a little less understable at first, but with some use it will match a new DX and then retain the same flights for a long time. Another good alternative is the Discraft Stratus – great disc, almost exactly the same as the Stingray but in a slightly more durable and grippier plastic (Elite X). Stratus will handle a touch shorter distance on the annys but otherwise is almost a Stingray mimic in flight.

  3. Pro:The stingray is a great beginner disc and a good disc for smooth anhyzer shots. Low power players will be able to throw this disc straight, but a more experienced player will only like it for turnovers and eventually rollers.Great roller.

Con: players may not like the rim, not a common feeling one in comparison to new age mid-ranges. Won’t work well in wind.
