The Viking is one of our most versatile distance drivers from start to finish. The Viking is a long straight flyer with a very predictable fade at the end of the flight. This is an excellent disc for throwing both side arm and backhand shots due to its easy grip and neutral flight. The Viking is perfect for holding long, line drive shots as well as graceful left or right turning shots.

The Viking is a great disc for players looking for the next step up from their understable drivers, as well as players looking for a very straight flying disc, without having to worry about it turning over at high speed.
I have an older DX 174g Viking in my bag. It is my most stable flying driver that I throw. The Viking is a great driver for any big drive that needs to stay on the fairway.
In my experience, the Viking handles terribly in the wind, headwind and tailwind. Windy conditions are the conditions I would not throw this disc in. It has a tendency to get blown around quite a lot. It might be because mine is a DX plastic, and perhaps the Champion plastic version is a little more stable.
The Viking makes a good driver for players looking to step up their game. I would not advise this disc for beginners, as it is a little faster and not super easy to control with a weaker backhand throw. It actually is pretty overstable at lower speeds.

My Viking is 166g Champion plastic. It is a very straight driver in calm conditions. There is a hint of understability in the high speed portion of the flight, and a nice predictable fade when it slows. I think the slight understability is what makes the disc so versatile. It will hold a hyzer or anhyzer release well, and when thrown flat will turn just a bit in the middle of the flight and fade nicely. I don’t know why more people don’t throw this disc.
A headwind will turn this disc over, but with practice, you can make it hyzer-flip and finish where you want it to. I love this disc, and it has a place in my bag for the foreseeable future.

Excellent ‘stable’ (straight flying) distance driver that is a very close cousin to the Valkyrie – though the Viking has a bit less High-Speed Turn. This disc will fly very straight when released flat or hyzer-flipped – with significant ‘snap’ the disc will also serve as a long turnover driver. The rim configuration and flatness of the Champ Viking makes it a very comfortable disc to throw – even for noobs. A very underrated all-around driver.
