From the Manufacturer...
The XD has a low profile, thin rim which promotes a secure grip and an easy, natural release. These features combined with straight flight characteristics make the XD an easy to throw and control disc. It is the most driver-like putter we have and is useful for putts, drives and approach shots. Good disc for developing a “touch” around the basket.

I need to second E_Rock’s review….XD is really underrated and an excellent versatile disc. It was one of my first three discs when I started playing and I used it exclusively for putts or very short layups before it eventually sat in the corner, replaced by other discs. I started looking for very understable anny discs and played with the Stingray, Wolf, and Stratus for quite awhile. Those are great discs but I found it hard to get shorter range low ceiling dog leg shots with them with any consistency. Out came the XD for some testing and I was really happy with what all I discovered it could do. It’s now one of my most used putter mids and I carry a worn DX and a Champ in my bag. Excellent for so many shots and a 200′ low, tight, straight fairway drive is no problem for the XD. I actually abandoned my Roc, using the XD and either a Gator or Drone for most of my mid game. It makes a great putter as well for those that prefer the feel of a less bulky disc. It’s easy to see why the XD has been around for almost 30 years while many other discs have been introduced and retired.

By far one of the most underrated disc’s in the game the great XD…..
The XD was the fourth disc Innova ever released in 1984 and has stood the test of time. It is a fast Understable tweener disc that can be used for a great variety of shots. I really like the old DX Bullet stamp ones but have at least one in every kind of plastic. It is a low profile “putter” with no bead. This is my go to turnover Mid and long range putter. I use this disc all the time and even play rounds with only XD’s in a few different plastics. The disc has great glide and I can get them out to almost 300′ on a good rip.
Hard DX XD’s are the most understable in my experience. It is great for slow Hyzer Flip Turnover shots. Once they beat in they will go left (RHFH) and not even think of coming back.
Soft DX Bullet XD’s are a bit more stable than the harder ones and are great for holding almost any line they are put on. I have a yellow one that feels so awesome and is my favorite thrower. It is still understable but if you put enough hyzer on it will flip up just a bit and hold a gentile hyzer line the whole flight.
Champ Glow XD’s are much more stable than the DX ones and maybe just a touch overstable when they are brand new. I use them for nice straight shots with some fade at the end. I also use them for soft landing anhyzers and little flex shots.
Star XD’s are overstable. They are great for wind shots and hyzers. I don’t throw mine that much because I have other disc’s to fill this role and they are very hard to find.
I do not have an R-Pro XD but will probably get one soon.
The XD is great for working on FH form because if you roll your wrist it will turn and burn on you for sure. It is also a bit OAT sensitive. If you can learn to FH this disc out to 250′ you can FH anything.
Great disc for short drives, upshots and putts…. THE ONE AND ONLY XD!!!!!
